Waiting for LOVE
I’m sure all of us have a favorite music artist and when we hear news that our favorite artist is releasing new material, we go nuts. That’s exactly what I did when AVA announced they were in the process of recording a new album. For the past year, I have waited for their new album, LOVE, to be released (Which is out by the way) I just want to share my story on anticipating this album.
It started in January of last year. I was searching for any news and Intel on the band. Soon enough, I found out that they are in the studio recording a new album. I went from being happy to happier. Not long after, I told my friend and he had the same reaction, happy to happier. Now it was time to play the waiting game.
About a month later, in February, I heard Blink 182 had just reunited. My mood went from happy to depressed. Blink 182 is no stranger to AVA. In fact, Tom Delonge, the person who started AVA also started Blink 182 and reunited them. During that time, the reunion made me feel that AVA is going to break up. Don’t get me wrong I love Blink 182, but their music is so childish. Afterward, AVA announced that they were not going to break up at all and that Blink and AVA will co-exist. I was a bit skeptical but I accepted and said, “I guess I can accept the fact that Blink will be around and will be making music”
Months later, some demos from the LOVE sessions had leaked. Due to my obsession with AVA, I listened to the leaked demos. They did not disappoint. Judging from the demos, I knew this album would be different from the others. So, I downloaded the demos’ quick and played them to death. In July, they announced that the new album will be completely free of charge and will be released on Valentine’s Day. I was a bit disappointed because the original release date was Christmas. Due to the recent reunion of Blink, AVA halted production on their album.
Finally, in December, AVA released a new single from their new album titled, “Hallucinations.” The single didn’t blow me away as other AVA songs had done but it was still a really good song. On my I-Tunes, it said I played it about 200+ times before the album released. Soon after, it was announced that LOVE would be released 2 days earlier than Valentine’s Day. I was going to stick true to the release date but due to my stubborn nature, I downloaded it early. When the time had finally come, LOVE was released. I downloaded the first hour it came out. When I finished downloading it, I went in my room, put the songs on my PS3, and spent the next hour listening to the very album I had been waiting for since last January. It was a great experience. I had never anticipated an album like that before. I kept track of LOVE virtually every day of 2009.
Now I just enjoy this newfound glory. I been listening to it non-stop since I downloaded it. As of March 11th 2010, less than a month it was released, I played the album over 82 times.
Well, there you have it. That’s my story. Call me a freak and other names but know this, my love for this band will never die in my foreseeable future. It’s something I will remember the day I die. Anyway, I hoped your enjoyed reading my blog!
